Terms of Business
Gold Coast Accountants Pty Ltd trading as Ashton Accountants
Purpose of These Terms
These Terms of Business govern the professional relationship between Ashton Accountants (“we”, “our”, “us”) and you, the client (“you”). They outline your rights and responsibilities as well as our obligations under Australian law and professional standards.
Scope of Services
We will provide accounting, tax, and advisory services as agreed in your Engagement Letter. Any additional services outside the agreed scope will require a separate engagement and may attract additional fees.
Fees and Payment
Our professional fees are based on the time, skill, and complexity involved:
•Principal: $350/hr (excl. GST)
•Senior Accountants: $290/hr (excl. GST)
•Bookkeepers/Admin: $90/hr (excl. GST)
Invoices are issued as work progresses and are payable within 7–14 days (as specified in your Engagement Letter).
Please note: lodgement of returns may be deferred until payment is received.
Client Responsibilities
•You are legally responsible for providing complete and accurate records.
•You must notify us of any changes in your circumstances.
•Delayed or incomplete information may affect our advice and may result in additional fees.
Confidentiality
Your information will be treated with the highest confidentiality. It will not be disclosed unless:
•Required by law;
•You provide written consent; or
•As part of a professional peer review by the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
Quality Assurance
As an IPA member in public practice, we are subject to periodic quality reviews. Your engagement may be included unless you advise otherwise.
Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation. A copy is available on request.
Conflicts of Interest
We actively monitor and manage potential conflicts. Please let us know if you identify any actual or potential conflict during your engagement.
Use of Technology & AI
We may use secure automated systems and AI tools to support service delivery. All technology is configured to comply with professional standards and privacy legislation.
Intellectual Property
All tools, templates, and processes developed by us remain our intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Termination
Either party may terminate the engagement by written notice. Fees will remain payable for all services provided up to the date of termination.
Entire Agreement
These Terms of Business, together with your Engagement Letter, form the entire agreement between us. They supersede any prior discussions or representations.
Communication
We may communicate with you by email, phone, secure portal, or other agreed methods. Please ensure your contact details remain up to date.
